American Airlines announces the update
regarding the entire mainline fleet, with Main Cabin Extra that enables
priority boarding and more leg room. The installation plans for the same is
expected to commence by this year, and the update reflects on all the existing
aircrafts. To start with, Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be equipped with Main
Cabin Extra seating, by the beginning of the fall, current year. Later on,
aircrafts such as A321s, A319s, Boeing 777-300, and 787s will be equipped with
Main Cabin Extra seating.
The American Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Virasb Vahidi says that the customers, who are traveling in the Main Cabin Extra seats, can enjoy four to six inches of log room, which is convenient when compared to the existing one. American Airlines will continue providing choices to the customers, as per their desire and value.
The new Main Cabin Extra seats will be available in the front of Main Cabin, which will enable easy boarding and deplaning. American Airlines provides a complimentary access to the Main Cabin Extra to the AAdvantage Platinum Members, AAdvantage Executive Platinum members, and customers purchasing a full-fare economy tickets. The complimentary access is provided, based on the availability.
AAdvantage Gold members also will receive the complimentary access, from December 31st, 2013. Elite customers can have priority booking option on those Main Cabin Extra seats, and elite customers can select the seating option, until the final check-in.
If you wish to purchase a seat in Main Cabin Extra, the price may range between 8$ to 108$, depending upon the travel distance. You can book tickets in Main Cabin Extra in 777-300ERs aircraft, from spring 2012.
