Passengers who travel between Australia and United States will get access to the Internet and emails while journey

Qantas announces its in-flight A380 connectivity trial, which offers the passengers traveling in the route between Australia and United States, to access the Internet and emails while journey. The trial has started in six Qantas A380s, which is equipped with internet access for the flights running between Sydney and Los Angeles, and Melbourne and Los Angeles.

The Qantas Executive Manager, Alison Webster says that, for the first time, customers can be able to access to the Internet in their Wi-Fi enabled laptops and other Wi-Fi enabled devices, such as iPads, mobile phones, Blackberries, and so on.

Webster also says that this eight week trial enables the customers to get the opportunity to access to the Internet, book cheap tickets, check email, surf web pages, purchase with credit cards, and so on. Qantas is the first ever airlines, which provides Internet access while journey, in the direct flights between Australia and the United States.

In the past couple of weeks, Qantas has performed various tests for the service and provided the trial services to the customers flying between Australia and the USA. The connection is provided by Inmarsat’s Swift Broadband and global satellite based connections, for transferring the data inside the aircraft.

The connection is available to the customers in the First class and Business class services. Followed by the trial, Qantas will also assess opportunities for the long term applications of Internet, across A380 fleets.
